Amore e morte: a poetry reading by Moira Egan

Join us on Thursday 21st April for the presentation of Moira Egan's latest poems collection Amore e morte (Love and Death) [Tlon, 2022].

Moira Egan’s most recent collection is Amore e Morte (Love and Death), a bilingual New & Selected Poems (Edizioni Tlon, Rome 2022). Her work has been published in journals and anthologies on four continents. She has been a Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation Fellow at the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts and has held writing fellowships at the St. James Cavalier Centre for Creativity, Malta; the Civitella Ranieri Center; the Rockefeller Foundation Bellagio Center; and the James Merrill House. Moira has taught numerous poetry workshops at the Keats-Shelley House and is the Creative Writing Instructor at St. Stephen’s School, Rome.

AMORE E MORTE è una ricchissima raccolta di poesie scelte e poesie inedite - la cui traduzione italiana è stata curata da Damiano Abeni - e rappresenta la consacrazione del lavoro poetico della poetessa americana. Le poesie scelte sono divise in: amore, morte, sesso, filosofia, 'altro' e poesia. Usando le stesse categorie, dalla mitologia alla luna, dall’amore alla giusta rabbia, le poesie inedite continuano l’esplorazione di Egan con forme tradizionali e inventate, comprese le poesie in prosa, perché "tutto è lecito nell’eros e nella poesia: spiare, eccitarsi, innamorarsi dell’inconfessabile.
