John Keats and the Perils of Posterity a public talk by Prof. Nicholas Roe on Thursday 23rd October at 5 pm

 

In this talk Professor Roe will introduce his new book John Keats and the Perils of Posterity published in September 2025 by Oxford University Press. He will offer an overview of the whole book and then focus closely on one of the chapter sections by way of introducing his new research into the development of John Keats’s reputation 1821-1921. He will be talking about newspaper reports and some early poems written in memory of John Keats. Not ‘Adonais’.

Admission is free but booking is required due to the limited number of spaces (please write to info@keats-shelley-house.org).

Nicholas Roe is Wardlaw Professor of English Literature at the University of St Andrews, Scotland. He is a Fellow of the British Academy,  a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, and Honorary Professor of English at Xi’an Jiaotong Liverpool University in the People’s Republic of China. His books include Wordsworth and Coleridge the Radical Years (1988, 2018), John Keats and the Culture of Dissent (1997), Samuel Taylor Coleridge and the Sciences of Life (2001), and John Keats a New Life (2012).
