KSH Poetry Prize for Schools 2021 - Winners Announcement

The announcement of the winners of the 30th annual Keats-Shelley House Poetry Prize for Schools will be made at the Non-Catholic Cemetery in Rome on Thursday 3 June 2021 at 11.30 am


Join this year's guest judge, author and illustrator of children's books Brian Selznick, in a live stream on our YouTube channel to hear the winning and specially commended poems from the English and Italian language categories. 


In the Keats-Shelley House Poetry Prize for Schools 2021 there are six categories of prizes for the best poem, and this year's competition themes are:

"Butterfly" or "Wavesfor students between the ages of 5 and 9;
"Voyage" or "Friendshipfor students between the ages of 10 and 13;
"Writ in Water" or "Adversityfor students between the ages of 14 and 18.


Brian Selznick is the author and illustrator of several books for young people including The Invention of Hugo Cabret (inspiration for the Oscar-winning film Hugo directed by Martin Scorsese), Wonderstruck, and The Marvels. He is the winner of the 2008 Caldecott Medal for U.S. picture book illustration recognizing The Invention of Hugo Cabret and is also known for illustrating children's books such as Baby MonkeyPrivate Eye (written by his husband David Serlin) and the covers of Scholastic's 20th-anniversary editions of the Harry Potter series. His work has been translated into Italian and published by Il Castoro and Tunué.
