A Stereoscopic Tour of Italy at the Keats-Shelley House
This summer visitors to the Keats-Shelley House are invited to take a journey into Italy's past with our Stereoscopic Tour of Italy.
With the help of 100+ stereographs from our collection, visitors can explore the way the country - its towns, cities, and famous monuments - looked at the end of the nineteenth century and start of the twentieth century, during the time of the foundation of the Keats-Shelley Memorial Association.
The Keats-Shelley House's archive of stereographs of Rome and Italy, when gazed at through an antique stereoscopic reader, bring these beautifully preserved 3D scenes to life. Spectators will be able to immerse themselves in historic places connected with the Romantic poets in Italy, including Venice, Naples, Florence and Pisa, as well as Piazza di Spagna, the Pyramid of Caius Cestius, and the Baths of Caracalla in Rome. They can also gain insights into what everyday Italian life was like more than a century ago.
The Stereoscopic Tour of Italy will be available to visitors from 16.00 till 18.00 every day from Tuesday 14 July. Numbers are limited so we recommend booking in advance +39 06 678 42 35. Standard entrance ticket to the museum applies.
