The Keats-Shelley House is open again: come and visit

The Keats-Shelley House will be open again from Monday 26 April 2021.

This season's highlights include:

A Panoramic Tour of the Keats-Shelley House: visitors from all over the world are invited to take part in a new online tour of the House in the company of a personal guide on our own platform launched on the bicentenary of Keats's death. For more information please check this page and/ or contact us (info@keats-shelley-house.org).

You can also take an immersive video tour narrated by Keats-Shelley200 Ambassador Sir Bob Geldof or explore some of our virtual events and readings or learn about The Death of Keats, which are all available on our YouTube channel.

Don't forget to visit our current exhibition Gusto which is available online and explore our Google Earth story mapping John Keats's journey from London to Rome.

On a final note the Keats-Shelley House and Keats-Shelley Memorial Association have three prizes in progress. The deadline for the Keats-Shelley and Young Romantics Prizes has been extended to 12th April. 2021's Poetry theme is ‘Writ in Water’ and the Young Romantic essays should be on ‘Art and Adversity’: Keats-Shelley Prize essays can be on any theme relating to Romanticism. The deadline for the Keats-Shelley House Poetry Prize for Schools is 2nd May and we're delighted to announce that celebrated American children's author and illustrator Brian Selznick will be the guest judge of this year's Keats-Shelley House Poetry Prize for Schools.

We're also thrilled to announce details of a forthcoming new dramatic production and collaboration with Blue Apple Theatre, a UK charity transforming the lives of people with learning disabilities through innovative drama, dance, singing and film.

Blue Apple's planned summer show for 2021 is a co-production with the Keats-Shelley Memorial Association that will be performed in Winchester before a proposed tour in 2022. The collaboration involves a new interpretation of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein followed by a Winchester water meadow walk tracing the footsteps of Keats. Watch out for more news about these events planned for 9-11 July 2021. 

Blue Apple artistic director Richard Conlon said: "The Blue Apple take on ‘Frankenstein’ will be both faithful and original; going back to the source material and beyond it. There will be no bolts through the neck in our version, but do of course expect the unexpected."
